On July 30, 2011 Chandra Shukla was commissioned by Anemone Dance Company and Asheville Butoh Collective to come up with music for a marching procession with Butoh dancers for an event known as 'Yūgen' taking place at the Be Be Theater in Asheville, NC USA. A group of Butoh dancers from both companies would march to the Be Be Theater from another location in downtown Asheville. This is the music for that procession entitled "Procession of Bones". Another XAMBUCA track from Xambuca's Joulupukki album, 'Boazu' was used for a piece by Sara Baird entitled 'Bitter Rice' in the Yūgen events, which was co-produced with Julie Becton Gillum and Asheville Butoh Collective (as all pieces were). The event lasted the entire week going into August, 2011. One piece (part 1) was used in the procession. The other piece (part 2) never made its way to public ears.

about

XAMBUCA Asheville, North Carolina

XAMBUCA does not really exist in the material space time continuum. Instead, XAMBUCA conceptually feeds on the subconscious figment of a host's imagination; a host that has a tendency to encounter its name or symbols in passing by mere coincidence.
